Oaklands celebrates Oktoberfest

German beer, music and food is the focus of Oktoberfest, and this Saturday (Oct. 4), Oaklands Community Centre is joining in on the festivities.

The one-day festival incorporates traditions from Munich and Bavaria, Germany, including locally sourced bratwurst and sauerkraut.

To wash down the food, Hoyne Brewing Company will be serving a variety of their local craft beers. Providing the entertainment for the evening will be musical acts such as Martin Hergt, a world-renowned accordion player, and a modern Bavarian instrumental combo band.

The event is at Oaklands Community Centre at 1-2827 Belmont Ave. from 3 to 9 p.m.

Tickets are $20 and include one beer, a bratwurst meal and the live entertainment. Tickets will only be sold up until Friday at 5 p.m., and can be bought at eventbrite.com or by calling the community centre at 250-37-9101.
