Logwin supports efforts to aid flood victims
Grevenmacher (Luxembourg) – The logistics service provider Logwin has supported relief efforts for victims of the Danube floods. The company transported donations of electrical appliances and other household goods free of charge to Hengersberg in Lower Bavaria. The aid shipment reached the municipality with its almost 8,000 inhabitants on July 25. The Bavarian Red Cross in Deggendorf is organising the local distribution of the goods. The urgently needed furniture, refrigerators and TV sets are being allocated to households throughout the region.
The appliances and other items were donated by private individuals and business people. The Logwin truck collected ten pallets of donations in Nuremberg on Thursday morning. The twelve-tonne truck then drove 30 kilometres to Gräfenberg to pick up another shipment of five pallets. Residents of the neighbouring village of Walkersbrunn and the surrounding area had donated furniture and appliances, which were brought to fruit and vegetable wholesaler Obst Trautner GmbH to await collection. The truck then transported the load to Hengersberg 200 kilometres away. The region was severely affected by the
flooding, with the damage in the district of Deggendorf estimated to total some 500 million euros.
