German Festival Brings Beer and Bavarian Dance

Get your lederhosen on and join the dancing at the German Festival this weekend.

A Bavarian dance troupe from Pittsburgh is entertaining crowds Saturday and Sunday at Saint Nick’s Grove.

Audience members got in the act, too, honoring their German heritage.

German or not, anyone can enjoy beer and bratwurst, and top it off with some strudel.

The dancers say they enjoy keeping these traditions alive.

“I enjoy it because my family came from Bavaria a couple generations ago, and my grandfather was involved in a German club in Pittsburgh so doing this makes me feel kind of closer to him,” said one dancer. “I also do it because its a lot of fun, I enjoy doing these dances and performing.”

The German Festival continues Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
