Munich. President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Rosen Plevneliev, who is on a working visit to Germany, where he will take part in the 50th Munich Security Conference, met with the management of Bavarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the press centre of the President’s Office announced.
Organic farming, food production and tourismn are the sectors Bulgaria and Bavaria could cooperate in. Investments could also be made in the sectors of mechanical engineering, information and communication technologies and clusters. Bavaria and Bulgaria could also cooperate in the modernisation of ports located at the Danube River.
The Bavarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce is the biggest one from a total of 80 chambers of commerce in Germany and more than 380,000 companies are its members.
Data shows in 2012 volume of merchandise exchange between Bavaria and Bulgaria marked a growth of some 22%. The automobile cluster in Bulgaria was cited as an example of successful cluster policy.
Peter Driessen, Executive Director of the Bavarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce, said family businesses were the ground for Bavarian success and succession [in traditions] was a priority and a long-term perspective. Mr Driessen also said succession [in traditions], political stability and the implementation of reforms in Bulgaria were important.
As far as the Bulgarian people working in Germany were concerned, he commented that the rate of unemployment among them was 7.4% whereas the unemployment rate in Germany was 7.7% and the unemployment rate among other foreign nationals reached 14.7%, which was twice as high.
President Plevneliev remarked Bulgaria and Bavaria successfully cooperated in the so-called Danube [Region] Strategy, in the realms of justice, interior affairs, security and defence.
The Bavarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce invited Bulgarian companies to participate in the Messe München International, an international fair held in Munich.
