Wilma Zachrich

Wilma M. Zachrich, 93, died Friday, January 2, 2015, at the CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center. She was from New Bavaria, and recently resided at Kingsbury Place, Defiance.

Her Legacy… She was born January 29, 1921, to Henry and Margaret (Hulstede) Wolf in Pleasant

Township. She graduated from Holgate High School in 1938 and then attended business school. On November 22, 1941, she married Alvin Zachrich. He died in August of 1980. She was a devoted homemaker and managed the family farm. Wilma was a member of Pleasant Bend United Methodist Church where she played the organ and piano for 60 years. She was also a member of the Board of Elections and United Methodist Women and a lifelong member of the Linger Longer Club. She enjoyed playing dominos and spending time with her family.

Her Family… She is survived by her son, Dennis (Jean) Zachrich, New Bavaria; daughters, Diane (Richard) Greene, Tiffin, and Debra (Daniel) Nofziger, Archbold; eight grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and nine great-stepgrandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Bauer.

Her Farewell Services… Friends will be received in the Zachrich Funeral Home, 114 William St., Holgate, today, January 4, 2015, from 2-8 p.m. Friends will be received one hour prior to Wilma’s celebration of life in the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. Entombment will follow in Riverview Memory Gardens.
