Travel website Thrillist.com names Bavarian Inn Michigan’s ‘most iconic restaurant’

FRANKENMUTH, MI — Frankenmuth’s Bavarian Inn is the “most iconic restaurant” in the state, according to food, drink and travel website Thrillist.com.

Bavarian Inn Restaurant, established in 1888 and located at 713 S. Main in Michigan’s Little Bavaria, is known for its family-style chicken dinners and authentic German dishes. 

Thrillist calls the restaurant, among other things, “a magical place where buxom, dirndl-clad waitresses serve up gigantic, all-you-can-eat fried chicken.”

The restaurant’s online dinner menu also features homemade liver spread, warm German potato salad, buttered noodles, bratwurst, schnitzel, seafood and steak.

And don’t forget dessert. 

The Bavarian Inn restaurant has the best pie in the Saginaw area, according to MLive readers. It also took the No. 3 spot in MLive’s statewide search for Michigan’s best pie. 

Other attractions in Frankenmuth include Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland, the recently expanded Zehnder’s Splash Village Hotel Waterpark and Zehnder’s of Frankenmuth. 

Zehnder’s of Frankenmuth and Bavarian Inn are among the 100 top-grossing independent restaurants in the nation, according to Restaurant Business Magazine’s website restaurantbusinessonline.com.
