Thiago on the mend

Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara is edging closer to a return to competitive action after arriving back in Germany.

The 23-year-old has been plagued with injuries since moving to the Bundesliga from Barcelona back in 2013 and the five-time capped Spain international was forced to undergo knee surgery in October last year.

The midfielder, who has been recovering from the operation in Spain for the past few months, is yet to feature in an official game for the German champions this season.

This may change before the end of the campaign, though, with Thiago having recently returned to Bavaria to start the second stage of the rehabilitation process.

The Spaniard has made just 25 appearances in all competitions for Bayern but the midfielder is feeling optimistic about the future.

He wrote on Twitter: “Thanks to all of you that have helped me in these months. Back to Munich.”
