Tank terminal acquisition a revisit for Oiltanking Deutschland
2 September 2013

Oiltanking Deutschland, a subsidiary of tank storage company Oiltanking, has acquired the BayWa tank terminal in the town of Deggendorf with effect from 1 September.

The Deggendorf tank terminal is located directly on the Danube river and has connections to the road and rail network. Its 14 tanks, with a total capacity of approximately 25,000m3, are used to store heating oil and diesel.

Oiltanking, a division of Marquand and Bahls, believes the facility fulfils ‘an important function’ in supplying the regions of Lower Bavaria, the Bavarian Forest and western Austria via barge or railcar.

Marquard and Bahls actually built the Deggendorf tank terminal in 1957 and operated it up until 1983, when Oiltanking Deutschland sold it to BayWa, which operated it under the name DTL Danube Tank Terminal.

Oiltanking Deutschland currently runs 14 terminals at an overall capacity of 2.3 million m3 throughout Germany.
