Stolen Bentley, jewellery turn up in Germany

Police in Bavaria have found 1.2 million euros worth of jewellery in a crashed Bentley stolen from the Zurich area.

The car was worth about 300,000 francs.

German police say the car with Swiss license plates was seen at an Austrian gas station last month.

When the driver saw he was going to be approached by an officer, he fled to Germany.

The driver hit a car while going through a former customs post, and parked his seriously damaged Bentley behind a business.

Despite a search, the suspect could not be found.

Witnesses say he was picked up by an accomplice.

Police claim the suspects are “well organized Eastern Europeans.”
