The 20-year-old suspect, named as Christoph Rilke, was seized by Norwegian police near Trondheim, a police spokesman in Munich said on Wednesday morning.
A 72-year-old man was found dead in the street in Bad Reichenhall at 3 a.m. on July 14th, hours after Germany won the World Cup.
The man is also accused of attacking a 17-year-old girl that same night. She was badly injured and taken to hospital.
Police have been searching for the alleged murderer ever since, initially in the suspect’s home state of Rhineland-Palatinate.
Investigators found he had taken a flight to Norway from Frankfurt on July 22nd and contacted their Norwegian colleagues.
