Tosa East not going to state after 41-40 loss to Greendale in sectional final

Wauwatosa East’s defense held Greendale to 14 second half points, but a poor shooting performance and poor shot selection led to a 41-40 loss in the WIAA Sectional Semi-final defeat on Saturday afternoon at Brown Deer.
The Panthers jumped off to a 27-15 lead with 3:37 left in the second quarter, only to see East rally with a 6-0 run before the half. Bryce Beekman passed to Jai’vionne Green, who hit a jumper, and then Green put in a rebound basket. Ty Ederesinghe dropped in two free throws with 45.7 seconds left and East only trailed 27-21 at halftime.
With Greendale leading, 32-24, with 5:18 left in the third quarter, East then went out on a 9-0 run to take a 33-32 lead going into the fourth quarter.
Drue Holley hit a 3-pointer, Jackson Telderer scored on a fast break, Beekman scored off a steal and DJ Verser with fouled with 3.1 seconds left and sank two free throws to end the period with a 33-32 lead.
David Pulizos, the Panthers 6-6 forward, who led all scorers with 20 points, was held to 2 points by the Red Raiders defense in the third period. But he scored six out of Greendale’s 9 fourth-quarter points, including a long 3-pointer from the right corner with 1:30 left for a 41-38 lead.
