Sat.1 Gold to launch via DTT in Munich
Digital terrestrial television (DTT) in Munich and southern Bavaria will gain a new channel following RTL’s retreat, with Sat.1 Gold launching on DTT channel K34 on 1 August.
Bavarian media authority BLM issued a DTT licence valid until 31 May 2014 at its latest assembly in Munich, at the same time welcoming the enforced engagement by TV group ProSiebenSat.1 for DTT.
Following women’s channel sixx, which went on air in Munich/southern Bavaria and Nuremberg on 1 June, Sat.1 Gold will be the second new ProSiebenSat.1 channel to use digital terrestrial distribution to reach more viewers. Sat.1 Gold targets women between 49-64.
In April 2013, ProSiebenSat.1 extended the contract for the DTT distribution of its channels in Germany until 2018 and announced it would use the DTT capacities vacated through the retreat of RTL and other broadcasters to increase the reach of its own channels.
