Rain hampers play at BMW Open

The BMW Open quarter-finals have all been suspended until Saturday following heavy rain in Bavaria.

Bad weather in Munich saw the start of Friday’s play delayed with organisers initially stating that Andy Murray’s clash with Lukas Rosol and Roberto Bautista-Agut versus Vincent Estrella Burgos would take place a day later than originally scheduled.

Dominic Thiem against Gerald Melzer and Philipp Kohlscreiber’s match against David Goffin were still set to take place on Friday as planned.

However, all four quarters will now take place on Saturday, with players facing up to the prospect of potentially playing twice in one day.

World number three Murray is featuring at the tournament for the first time, having got married two weeks ago.
