Providence is the new home for its 23rd Annual International Oktoberfest, which is on tap for Saturday, October 17th from noon to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, October 18th from noon to 6:00 p.m. along the waterfront at India Point Park.

Formerly held at the Newport Yachting Center in Newport, RI, the celebration of German culture, food and history will feature Biergartens with domestic, craft and international brewers serving up a variety of seasonal beers, full bars offering cocktails and other libations, savory Austro-German cuisine and live Bavarian and American entertainment including SPITZE! Oktoberfest Show Band and the HSV Bavaria Folk Dancers. The Festival is only open to guests who are 21+ so proper ID is required upon entry.

“We were searching for a new location to recreate our little slice of Bavaria and couldn’t be happier with India Point Park, especially after holding a couple of successful events there already this summer,” said Michele Maker Palmieri, President and CEO of Waterfront Productions. “Oktoberfest is the perfect event to enjoy a wide assortment of beers with friends on a crisp, colorful fall day along the city’s waterfront.”

The Festival gates open at noon on Saturday and then the celebration officially kicks-off at 1:00 p.m. with the traditional toast by the guest Master of Ceremonies or “Burgermeister”.  The Stein Hoisting Competition will also return by popular demand with the man and woman who can hoist a full liter stein longer than other beer lovers enjoying both prizes and bragging rights!
