At least one person has been killed after a train hit a lorry at a crossing in southern Germany.
Other people were injured in the accident on Thursday night near Freihung, eastern Bavaria, the dpa news agency said.
The lorry, which was towing a low-loader with a military vehicle, apparently got stuck on the tracks and was hit by the train, setting off an explosion, it said.
Photos from the site showed that the front of the regional train’s first carriage was blackened by fire and the windows of the cab blown out. Police said one body had been recovered by early yesterday and rescuers were still looking for the train driver.
Two people are believed to have been in the lorry, one of whom was able to get out.
Pictures taken after the collision show firefighters and emergency services at the site, where the regional train hit a truck, assessing the situation, as well as the military vehicle on flat bed trailer.
