WENCHES – don your dirndls. The merriment of Oktoberfest is coming to a medieval castle near you.
WENCHES – don your dirndls. The merriment of traditional Bavaria is coming to a medieval castle near you.
Ballarat’s Kryal Castle is hosting its first-ever Oktoberfest event – and Victoria’s largest-ever – over the weekend of October 24 and 25.
The event will feature steins a-plenty as well as more Bratwursts and pork knuckles than you can poke a sausage at. The highlight will be none-other than The Horses maestro himself, Daryl Braithwaite.
Organiser Serena Eldridge said the castle was expecting 5000 attendees.
“The location is so unique. Because we’re a replica 14th century castle, it led a few of us to think wouldn’t it be great to have an Oktoberfest here?” she said.
Ballarat Regional Tourism CEO George Sossi said the castle’s new management had “elevated its services”.
