OTTAWA — Norbert Klear, 81, of Ottawa, died 9:30 a.m. Friday, December 11, 2015, at The Meadow of Ottawa. He was born October 29, 1934, in New Bavaria to the late Martin and Helen (Warniment) Klear. On November 19, 1966, he married Mary Ann Diehl, who survives in Ottawa.
Norbert is also survived by two children, Bobbi (Doug) Holtzapple of Spencerville and Michael (Jennifer) Klear of Harrod; five grandchildren, Ashley Holtzapple, Marshall Klear, Cooper Klear, Riley Newland and Kate Newland; two sisters, Mary Snyder of New Bavaria and Angela Schroeder of Kalida; and a brother, Kenneth (Mary) Klear of North Creek. He is also preceded in death by a sister, Rita Gerschutz, and two brothers, Paul and Joe Klear.
He retired from Phillips as a mechanic after 44 years. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa; Ottawa American Legion, AMVETS, Phillips Quarter Century Club, and the Knights of Columbus. Norbert was an Army veteran. He enjoyed tiddling around the house and was a fan of the Detroit Tigers and Lions.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, December 14, 2015, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, with Fr. Rick Friebel officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military grave side services by the American Legion, VFW and AMVETS. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at Love Funeral Home, Ottawa, where there will be a K of C rosary service at 7:30 p.m.
