New Bavaria cabinet sworn in

The new cabinet of the southeast German state of Bavaria was sworn in on Thursday after the Christian Social Union (CSU) won regional elections.

Minister-President of Bavaria, Horst Seehofer, handed letters of appointment over to 11 ministers and six secretaries of state, and described the changes in his cabinet as historic.

The 64-year-old CSU politician was re-elected on Tuesday with 100 votes from 101 members of the CSU.

Ilse Aigner serves as economy minister and deputy minister-president, while Markus Soeder as finance and home minister. Christine Haderthauer will head the state chancellery, Bavarian Radio reported.
