Morpho’s subsidiary Morpho Detection has been awarded a contract by the district government of Upper Bavaria to deploy its CTX 9800 DSi explosives detection system (EDS) at Germany’s Munich International Airport.

Based on computed tomography (CT), the CTX 9800 baggage screening system will be deployed to screen all passenger checked baggage, dubbed Level 1 screening, for select high-risk flights.

With the capability to screen more than 1,000 bags a second, CTX 9800 will also assist the airport in transitioning to comply with Standard 3 explosives screening capabilities in line with approaching European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) mandates.

Morpho Detection president and CEO Karen Bomba said: “By reducing false alarms and time-intensive manual inspections of checked luggage, the CTX 9800 is delivering on Morpho’s commitment to help airports prepare for approaching regulatory mandates and security challenges.”

The CTX 9800 screening system is also certified by the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).

Morpho has been supplying Munich and other German airports with XRD-based EDS for more than ten years.
