Montenegro Doubts German Arrest Linked to Paris Killings

German authorities are investigating whether a man arrested last week with huge quantities of explosives and machine guns was linked to attackers in France, as the country stepped up security measures in the wake of the Paris terror strikes which killed over 120 people.

On November 5, a 51-year-old Montenegrin man was arrested during a routine traffic inspection in Bavaria, when police found large amounts of explosives and weapons within the auto, a VW Golf.

Conservative leaders in Germany insisted on linking the terror attacks in Paris on Friday night to the country’s own refugee crisis, with calls emerging on Saturday for a crackdown at German borders.

“This is a horror”, the visibly shaken president said in a midnight television address to the nation before chairing an emergency cabinet meeting.

A man arrested with firearms in his auto by German police is being linked to the Paris terrorist attacks.

“There is a link to France, but it is unclear if there is a link to the attacks”, said Thomas de Maiziere, adding that investigations are ongoing. ISIS has since claimed responsibility for the killings, blaming them on France’s role in the Syrian conflict. “I don’t know what’s happening”, a sobbing witness who gave her name only as Anna told BFM TV outside the Bataclan hall.

Focus Online reported that the man was from Montenegro and that he has refused to speak in prison and not hired a lawyer to defend his case.
