Metso and UPM to continue mill maintenance agreement at UPM Plattlingmill in Germany

HELSINKI, FINLAND, Jul 02, 2013 (Menafn – Marketwired via COMTEX) –Metso and UPM have agreed to continue their mill maintenanceoutsourcing agreement at the UPM Plattling mill in Bavaria, Germany.Metso will provide maintenance systems and procedures and beresponsible for optimizing maintenance costs and developing technicalavailability at the mill. The agreement, covering three paperproduction lines, will be effective as of July 1, 2013. The value ofthe agreement will not be disclosed.

Metso has been responsible for the mill maintenance of Plattlingmill’s paper machine No. 1 since 2007 and of paper machines No. 10 andNo. 11 since 2011. The new multiyear agreement will cover millmaintenance operations for these three paper production lines.

Metso’s mill maintenance model optimizes the use of Total ProductiveMaintenance (TPM), Metso’s streamlined reliability centeredmaintenance (Applied RCM) and condition-based maintenance. The modelensures the highest possible equipment efficiency and costoptimization.

The UPM Plattling mill produces 780,000 tonnes of light weight coatedand supercalendered papers annually.
