BAVARIA, Kan. (AP) — Two men are dead following a three vehicle crash west of Salina. It happened around 8 a.m. Monday on Old Highway 40 near the town of Bavaria in Saline County.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, an eastbound Ford Taurus crossed the center line and hit a westbound Ford F-150. The Taurus spun around was then hit by an eastbound Nissan Murano.
All three vehicles ended up in the ditch south of the highway.
Both men in the Taurus died at the scene. The driver was identified as Andrew Loren Wolf, 20, of Ellsworth. The passenger has been identified as 24-year-old Joshua Bruce Gepner of McPherson.
The driver of the Murano, 40-year-old Jolene A. Goddard of Brookville, was taken to a Salina hospital with serious injuries. Her current condition is unknown.
Neither the 34-year-old man or 7-year-old boy in the F-150 were hurt.
The KHP Critical Highway Accident Response Team (CHART) and KDOT crews responded to the accident site. Old Highway 40 was shut down for several hours but has since reopened.
The accident is under investigation, but troopers say weather was not a factor. The highway was clear and dry.
