Margaret ‘Mae’ Brown

LEIPSIC — Margaret “Mae” Brown, 89, of Leipsic and formerly of New Bavaria, died Thursday morning, January 7, 2016, at Meadows of Leipsic.

She was born in Shelby, Ohio, December 5, 1926, the daughter of Liguori and Laura (Maag) Crumrine. In 1947, she married Vincent Brown, who preceded her in death on February 11, 2009. She was a homemaker and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Bavaria, past president of the Rosary Altar Society, and certified CCD teacher. She was a charter member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 8847, New Bavaria, and was a past president.

Surviving are two sons, Gary (Carol), Englewood, Fla., and Keith, Bryan; two daughters, Mrs. Elaine (Bill) Helberg, New Bavaria and Mrs. Beverly (Shawn) Damico, Willoughby Hills, Ohio; one brother, Clifford Crumrine, New Bavaria; sister, Mrs. Rita (Robert) Layne, Defiance; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Also preceding her in death were three brothers, Richard, Virgil and Gilbert; sister, Ruth Neiling; and a grandson, Stefan Damico.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 11, 2016, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Bavaria, with Father Nick Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be in the Zachrich Funeral Home, 114 William Street, Holgate, on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. The rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Sunday evening.
