Lahm praises Gotze move

Philipp Lahm believes Mario Gotze’s decision to join Bayern Munich will turn out to be the best move for his career.

The precocious youngster has sparked uproar in Germany after leaving his new side’s biggest rivals Borussia Dortmund, a team where he was the focal point of one of Europe’s most exciting attacks.

However, it is still unclear where he will fit in for the Bavarians, with new boss Pep Guardiola unlikely to make wholesale changes after the Bavarians’ historic treble winning season last term.

However, Lahm has praised Gotze’s decision and believes the German international will thrive at the Allianz Arena.

“If you’re a truly great player, then you belong to the best club in Germany and that is Bayern Munich. His move was a logical step,” he told reporters. “If you have the chance to go to Bavaria, then you take the chance, especially as a young player, they use it to develop themselves.”
