Ifølge tyske Bild har Philipp Lahm lagt opp som landslagsspiller for Tyskland. VM-finalen mot Argentina, som tyskerne gikk seirende ut av, ble dermed 30-åringens siste.

Lahm ledet nasjonen som kaptein i Brasil da Mario Götze ble den store helten i finalen og scoret kampens eneste mål i ekstraomgangene.

Bayern München-stjernen skrev seg dermed inn i en svært eksklusiv klubb da Tyskland sikret sin fjerde VM-triumf. 

Lahm vil fremdeles fortsette klubbkarrieren med de regjerende Bundesliga-mesterne etter at han signerte ny kontrakt like før VM som strekker seg helt til 2018.

30-åringen har spilt på aldersbestemte landslag siden 1999 fra U17-nivå og oppover frem til han fikk debuten på A-landslaget i februar 2004 i en alder av 20. I EM samme år spilte han samtlige kamper i gruppespillet.

På ti år spilte han totalt 113 landskamper for Tyskland og scoret fem mål.
