Ever wonder if those Elvis sightings were actually true? Well, Dutch beer company, Bavaria, attempts to put rumors to rest on some of the most beloved and conspiracy-ridden celebrities in their new commercial for the fruit beer, Radler.
The scene is set on an undisclosed and remote island location, where an older Elvis Presley is enjoying a beer on the beach, while an aged Marilyn Monroe is helping rapper Tupac apply ample amounts of sunblock before bathing in the rays. Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain is around the corner, hanging out with his guitar and an older, more hippie version of Beatles legend, John Lennon.
As Lennon orders another round of Bavaria from an attractive female bartender, marital artist Bruce Lee spots a ship in the distance – as he karate chops and kicks about warning the inhabitants of this secret island.
While all the celebrities hustle about in attempts to hide from the oncoming ship, Elvis’ larger physique is spotted hiding behind the slender trunk of a palm tree by the ship’s bewildered captain. Later on, while enjoying a beer at the bar, Elvis calmly says, “Close call.”
The brewing company, based in the Netherlands, is no stranger to controversial commercials. In April of 2012, Charlie Sheen stared in one of there adds for their non-alcoholic beer beverage, which alluded to a pregnant woman and police officers drinking, as well as others.
The Radler commercial currently has over 500,000 views on YouTube, and none of the estates of the deceased celebrities have expressed any issues with the add. What do you think? Humorous or in poor taste?
