Kurt Cobain, Elvis Presley, Tupac Shakur and John Lennon Alive and Well In …

Kurt Cobain, Elvis Presley, Tupac Shakur, Marilyn Monroe, Bruce Lee and John Lennon are alive and well, relaxing on a remote tropical island and enjoying some cold brews, according to a new ad by beer company Bavaria Brewery.

In a hilarious clip that’s gone viral and has already received more than half a million hits, these superstars aren’t deceased – they simply left civilization behind and are enjoying the good life on a beach paradise.

While Marilyn rubs suntan lotion on Tupac’s stomach, Cobain and Lennon lounge around playing music together. Meanwhile a hot, bikini-clad waitress serves them cold beer. Suddenly Lee alerts them to a ship he’s spotted on the horizon, which causes the stars to rush around attempting to erase any signs that they’re living on the island, presumably so they can continue their laid-back lifestyle without being discovered.

What makes the clip even more amusing is that the actors hardly bear a passing resemblance to the celebrities they’re portraying. Marilyn appears to be a few decades older than the movie star was when she died, and Elvis is blond rather than brunette. The only thing that identifies Lennon is his trademark round glasses.

The actor who plays Cobain is slightly more convincing, but we’d have no idea that Tupac was in the mix if it weren’t for his distinctive bandana.

It’s unclear whether this was a conscious choice by the commercial’s director, or whether this was a result of really bad casting. In any case, the clip is extremely entertaining, and is a big advertising win for Bavaria Brewery, the second largest brewery in the Netherlands.
