Keith Swary

Keith Swary, 51, of New Bavaria, died Monday, July 21, 2014, at Vancrest of Holgate.

His Legacy… Keith was born October 28, 1962, to Robert and Dorothy Swary in Napoleon. He graduated from HOPE School in 1985. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Bavaria, and worked for Pizza Hut and HOPE School as a janitor. Keith was in Special Olympics for 20 years participating in bowling, swimming, basketball, biking and track. He was on a HOPESchool state champion basketball team. He carried the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic torch in Toledo.

His Family… He is survived by siblings, Barbara (Gary) Rettig, Maumee, Rose Anne (Larry) Barth, Defiance, Christine (Don) Mershman, Topeka, Ind., Denise Swary, New Bavaria, Amy (Joe) Thome, Payne, Mark (Connie) Swary, Cleveland, Gregory (Kathi) Swary, Columbus, Steven (Diane) Swary, Pickerington, Anthony (Julia) Swary, Cincinnati, Dennis (Diane) Swary, Toledo, and twin brother Kevin (Wendie) Swary, Pandora; 13 nieces; 11 nephews; and 17 great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a niece, Caroline Thome.

His Farewell Services… Friends will be received in the Zachrich Funeral Home, Holgate, on Thursday from 2-8 pm. The rosary will be recited that evening at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, July 25, 2014, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Bavaria, at 10:30 a.m., with Father Nick Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Contributions made in Keith’s memory can be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or HOPE Services.
