Karnataka Delegation in Germany to Woo Investors

BENGALURU: A high-level delegation led by Chief Secretary Kaushik Mukherjee is visiting Germany from May 10 to 16 to woo investors and identify projects that can be replicated in the state.

The delegation is scheduled to meet Indian CEOs in Bavaria and Baden-Wuerttemberg and have separate meetings with German business captains in Munich to promote investments to Karnataka.

CM’s Additional Chief Secretary Narasimharaju D N, Commerce and Industry ACS K Ratna Prabha, Industrial Development Commissioner Gaurav Gupta and Karnataka Udyog Mitra Deputy Director Siddalingappa Pujari are part of the delegation.

The State of Bavaria and the Government of Karnataka had signed an MoU in April 2007 to promote bilateral relations between the two regions for cooperation in trade and investment, and collaborative projects in various fields. The delegation is visiting Bavaria on an invitation to review progress achieved in the fields enumerated in the MoU and strengthen ties between the two regions, said a release.

The delegation is scheduled to meet Dr Beate Merk, Minister for European Affairs and Regional Relations of Bavaria at the Bavarian State Chancellery, Dr Johann Schachtner, Head of the Department of Industry and Internationalisation and Deputy Chief of Administration at the Bavarian Ministry of Economy, Media, Energy and Technology and Dr Raoul Klinger, Director of International Business, Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft Munich.

Industry visits are planned at Infineon Technologies AG, Industrial Cluster in Stuttgart – Bosch headquarters – CP4 Factory at the Bosch DS Plant in Stuttgart, factory tour of Daimler’s passenger car assembly, solar-powered football stadium in Freiburg, Eco District Vauban, including energy house and heliotrope, and habitations in Black Forest, the release added.

Sources said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was scheduled to visit Germany and a few other countries to bring investments to the state, but it was put off due to the gram panchayat polls. Recently, he had turned down an invitation to be part of a PM-led delegation visiting China.
