Improve work for women to reduce poverty, Merkel tells G7

Angela Merkel, the German chancellor often rated as the world’s most powerful
female leader, pledges today high-level support to bring more women into the
workplace.

Writing in The Times, Mrs Merkel says that boosting vocational training
for women especially in developing countries will figure high on the agenda
of the G7 summit, which she will be chairing in Bavaria this weekend.

The G7 gathers together seven of the world’s most advanced economies: the
United States, Japan, Britain, Germany, France, Italy and Canada. Mrs Merkel
is the only female head of government in the group and she has been
