When Adolf Hitler needed to get away from his grueling job of killing millions, he liked to kick back at his Bavarian mountain retreat affectionately named the Eagle’s Nest. Now the chalet is getting a $22.5 million renovation. It’s certainly a place of historical significance; Der Furher would relax at the Alpine estate amid the lovely German scenery near the getaways of fellow Nazis such as Herman Goering, Albert Speer and Martin Bormann. Hitler’s former lair is now an information center, and will be expanded to some 27,000 square feet. The pricey makeover, to begin in 2015, is expected to take three years. [Source]
