Green Oasis – The Former Inner German Border

The old inner German border runs from the Baltic down to where Bavaria, Thüringen and the Czech Republic meet. The 1,400 kilometer-long strip of land used to be off limits to the public, allowing nature to take its course unhindered. A conservation project was set up after the Cold War, called The Green Belt. There are now guided tours along certain stretches of the former no-man’s-land.
