Germany. Sail B/one – Sail faster in 2014

BAVARIA is delighted to display the improved B/one at the “boot” show. Ingenious new deck fittings and more trim options make the sporting keelboat from BAVARIA even racier. Audi Sailing expanded its race program and provides the B/one fleet to clubs and associations.

Even some of the best models can be improved and for the new season BAVARIA has upgraded the B/one. Designed by Bruce Farr, the B/One now comes with a new configuration of the deck fittings, more trim options and a new concept for the sails.

Less gennaker and jib sheet tension is required by using the new 70-millimeter blocks which makes the trim and maneuvering on the B/One now even lighter and thus faster. All deck fittings are made by Harken, the complete set of sheets, halyards and extensors are from Liros.

Intensive work has been done at BAVARIA on the rig of the 7 meter long B/one. A new Dyform forestay now allows 30 percent more tension on the luff of the sail without stretching. For fast rolling of the headsail, the jib now comes with a new jib furler is supplied ex works. And when the jib is rolled away, the excels even further with the gennaker. The block casings are now mounted on ball bearings and the gennaker-launch system also makes the later launch and recovery even faster and safer. The set-up and de-rigging of the boat can be done easily with the portable boom crane mounted on the trailer.

And because the B/one sails even faster, the retractable keel of B/one has been upgraded for the new season with extremely stable press-fit keel bearings. Also the tiller and the rudder arrangement were further optimized.

The sails can now be ordered direct by the owner at the sailmaker of his choice, taking into account the class rules giving him control over the supplier.

The basic price for so much fun to sail with a B/one is 20,999 euros ex VAT. To find out more about the B/one yourself and for further information, please visit the boot between 18 to 26 January at the BAVARIA booth in Hall 16, Stand B 38

Audi Sailing – Now in clubs

Wherever she appeared in the last season, the B/ones with the rings showing the Audi sponsor on the hull – the attention of sailors and spectators was clear to see. Sailing at the Kieler Woche, the Champions Cup on the Alster, the Rhine week, the match race on the Wannsee and many other events where Audi partnered up with BAVARIA. The seven -meter-long keel boat presented by the shipyard, the B/one- fleet was constantly on the move across Europe and of course on the water. And for the coming season, still more is planned on the program with a tightly filled regatta calendar in 2014 and more clubs will be helping their youngsters get afloat. “The Audi-B/one-Fleet is also at more and more clubs assisting their own schedule of events for their own youth program. Up to five young people are needed as crew for a B / one, so it already gets a lot of young sailing on the water” explains Daniel Kohl, who will be found again and again aboard a B/one in the coming year.
