Germany. On January 7th 2015 Lutz Henkel joined Bavaria Yachtbau as …

Lutz Henkel will assume his new responsibility as of February 1st 2015 and will replace Constantin von Bülow who will become speaker of the advisory board.

Under the leadership of the current CEO, Constantin von Bülow, Bavaria has been stabilised and professionalized over the last two years and the foundation for further profitable growth has been laid:

“I am very satisfied with the progress we have made to date. We have implemented state-of-the-art lean manufacturing practices and quality assurance processes. We have entered the attractive and growing catamaran market segment and have successfully renewed our Sport powerboat line. The New SPORT 360 for example has already won the “Best of Boats” award in Berlin and the New SPORT 400 is nominated for the “Powerboat of the Year” award in Düsseldorf. Furthermore the CRUISER 46 and our new catamaran NAUTITECH OPEN 40 are nominated for the “European boat of the Year”. We have made very good progress in the American markets and in Asia and have re-invigorated our global service and spare-parts supply and after some difficult and unprofitable years we will achieve break-even in our operating result in the fiscal year 14/15. I am proud to have been able to make a contribution to the new success story of Bavaria and happy to pass the baton to Lutz.”

Prior to joining Bavaria Lutz Henkel was CEO of Salona Group and is an experienced boater himself. He has over 20 years of relevant professional experience from other industries in Operations, quality Assurance and Project Management as well as Sales, Marketing, Growth and General Management. Lutz managed international businesses and companies in Germany, Luxembourg, France and in the USA.

“It was always our plan to install a long-term CEO once Bavaria is back on track and we find the right person. We are very pleased to have been able to attract such a high calibre CEO for Bavaria, who can combine profound understanding of the boating industry with a wealth of expertise from other professional industries. With Lutz Henkel as new CEO and Constantin von Bülow as speaker of the advisory board and shareholder representative with deep understanding of the business we now have the perfect setup to ensure continuity and drive further profitable growth”, says Peter Williamson, advisory board member.

Lutz Henkel is looking forward to assuming his new role: “Bavaria is a great company, a great product and a great name with huge potential. Based on the solid foundations of German Engineering and Quality I am really looking forward to embarking on the exciting journey of making Bavaria a true world market leader. With Daniel Kohl (Product Marketing), Meik Lessig (Sales Aftersales), Sebastian Jürgens (Operations) and Christian Hollstein (Finance) I am joining a wonderful team and we can hit the ground running very quickly.”
