The train was carrying around 50 people when it rammed into the lorry.

The trailer was separated from the lorry due to the force of the collision and dragged several hundred meters by the regional train.

Authorities say the flatbed truck hauling a military vehicle may have been stuck on the railway tracks.

‘It hurtled at 62 miles per hour without breaking into the truck,’ said a spokesman for the police.

Sixteen passengers were treated for injuries, and four were taken to hospital but their condition is not critical, police said.

The lorry’s co-driver escaped with light injuries.

Hundreds of firefighters, 35 ambulances and 3 air ambulances were at the scene, reported local media.
