German potato gets EU protection

A potato grown in Bavaria, Germany, is the latest agricultural product to be added to the EU’s bulging list of protected items.
The ‘Bamberger Hörnla/Bamberger Hörnle/Bamberger Hörnchen’ potato, cultivated in the Franken regions of Bavaria, has been handed Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status, which requires one of the three production stages to take place in a specific area.
