Flooding in Bavaria – About

Passau is known as the city of three rivers. As you might expect, that can mean trouble after torrential rains like we’ve had this year; Passau was among the worst areas of Germany hit in this very wet spring.

“Passau’s old city center is under water after the Danube reached its highest level on record on Monday following days of torrential rain.” ~ Flood Disaster: Merkel Pledges Immediate Aid to Victims

The last time Passau flooded was 2002. Flood levels are marked on this high water marker near the Danube River. It looks like they’ll have another mark to place after the waters recede a bit.
