Game Details

Augsburg’s poor form continued as they were beaten 3-1 at home by Hoffenheim, who celebrated their first win of the season in Bavaria.

Kevin Volland gave the visitors the lead after 10 minutes, but after going close with a Halil Altintop header against the woodwork, the hosts levelled before half-time through Koo Ja-cheol’s header.

Hoffenheim regained the lead from the penalty spot as Volland converted after Eduardo Vargas was fouled and then another counter-attack saw them double their lead through Jonathan Schmid, from Volland’s pass.

Vargas sent a spectacular volley against the crossbar as Hoffenheim almost added a fourth which would have made the scoreline misleading.
