Our client is a medium-sized space company located in Bavaria and is a world leader for complex scientific instruments, small satellites and space missions.
Duties
Working in collaboration with the Systems Engineering team, the successful engineer shall become responsible for the overall end to end performance and Systems Architecture in a large space projects.
Specifically working on
– Elaboration and development of technical baseline solutions on basis of customer requirements and budgets even under consideration of non-technical boundary conditions.
– Technical coordination of a multidiscipline engineering team with the focus on the following output:
oSystem parameter budget
oConfiguration design and performance analysis
oInterface definition and coordination.
– Select and define the System design and to reflect it into the relevant technical design-, requirement- and performance documentation
– Ensure design integrity, perform requirements analysis and design integration
– Ensure proper flow-down and allocation of lower level subs-system requirements and budgets and maintain them up to date during the program lifetime.
– To be responsible for the definition and specification of interfaces including margins and associated documentation
– Support the engineering team for design trade-offs between disciplines such as thermal, structural, mechanical, optical, electrical, etc.
– Participate in trade-offs and technical budget allocation
– Close collaboration with technical management and other systems engineering disciplines ( AIT Engineering, Subsystems Engineering …)
– Support technical discussion with the customer
Essential Experience
– University (TU) or polytechnic degree in Physics or Engineering, preferably with major focus on Optical Systems
– Advanced experience as Systems Engineer or Design Responsible for scientific optical instruments or adequate technology and complexity (Interferometer, Spectrometer, Telescopes).
– Experience in engineering economics.
– Organised and structured task approach, experience in technical coordination of a multidisciplinary engineering team.
– Good communication and negotiation skills
– Competence in managing international teams
– Fluent in English in reading and writing.
Desirable Experience
– Ideally, experience in the development logic of Space Instruments, Earth Observation and Astronomy from in Phases 0 to B2, as well as significant H/W experience in the Phases C and D.
