Eulalia ‘Lollie’ Gerschutz

NEW BAVARIA — Eulalia J. “Lollie” Gerschutz, 96, of New Bavaria, died at 11:40 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Putnam Heritage, Ottawa.

She was born February 11, 1917, in Cloverdale, to the late Herman and Elizabeth (Wolke) Horstman. On July 19, 1941, she married Virgil A. Gerschutz, and he died July 5, 1999.

She is survived by 15 children, Marvell (Jim) Buddelmeyer of Glandorf, Marlyn Clark of Holgate, Judy Rosengarten of Ottawa, Linda (Gary) Ellerbrock of New Cleveland, Theresa (Dr. Grover) Johnson of Vancleave, Miss., Bonnie (Dan) Inkrott of Ottawa, Donna (Larry) Amos of Toledo, Larry (Peg) Gerschutz of Miller City, Ed (Rose Ann) Gerschutz of Miller City, Cletus (Mary) Gerschutz of New Bavaria, Kathy (Jeff) Lammers of Ottawa, Karl (Teresa) Gerschutz of Tucson, Ariz., Raymond (Shirley) Gerschutz of Miller City, Norm (Becky) Gerschutz of Ottawa, and Elaine (Dr. Tony) Rump of Ottawa; 53 grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; 105 great-grandchildren and two on the way; 11 great-stepgrandchildren; one great-great-grandchild on the way; and one great-great-stepgrandchild.

She was also preceded in death by a grandchild; a great-grandchild; seven brothers, Harry, Herman, Reynold, Ben, Fred, Al and Andy Horstman; two sisters, Mary Rhine and Angela Wannemacher Bendele; and two sons-in-law, Butch Clark and Ken Rosengarten.

Eulalia was a homemaker and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in New Bavaria and its Altar Rosary Society.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Bavaria, with Father Stephen Stanbery officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and Monday from 2-8 p.m. at Love Funeral Home, Ottawa, where there will be a scripture service on Monday at 7 p.m.
