Sofia. Increased migration pressure seems the biggest challenge for the European Union and requires the EU member states to join efforts for reaching a general political decision. That is what Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev said after a meeting with State Minister of the Interior, Public Works and Transport of the German State of Bavaria Free State Joachim Herrmann.
Minister Joachim Herrmann is on two-day visit to Bulgaria at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister Rumyana Bachvarova.
The two top officials agreed that the actions of European institutions should be aimed at removing the root causes of refugee flows and reporting capabilities and the capacity of the EU to accept refugees within a specified period of time, the press service of the government announced.
The head of state stressed that our country will strengthen its cooperation with Turkey on security of the common border and to curb human trafficking to the European Union.
“We are grateful for the clear policy of Bulgaria to register entering the EU territory refugees,” said Minister Herrmann, adding that Germany was ready to increase its investment to improve the lives of people in the countries of North Africa and the Middle East.
“Bulgaria appreciates and will continue to rely on partnership and the expertise of Bavaria to implement reforms in the Bulgarian judicial system and the home affairs,” Rosen Plevneliev said.
The head of state stressed that Bulgarian institutions have the will to build an effective judicial system in our country to meet the expectations of citizens and businesses.
“Bavaria has an interest in the successful outcome of judicial reform in Bulgaria, which will contribute in building a stronger Europe,” Joachim Herrmann said.
