‘CM Would Have Loved to See German Villages’

BENGALURU: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would have loved to see German villages, said State Chief Secretary Kaushik Mukherjee, who is leading a delegation of officers currently visiting Germany.

“The Chief Minister did not come because of local government elections in the state,” Mukherjee told Dr Beate Merk, Minister for European Affairs and Regional Relations of Bavaria during an interaction at Bavarian State Chancellery on Monday.

The delegation held meetings with Indian CEOs in Bavaria and Baden-Wuerttemberg and with captains of German companies at Munich. The Chief Secretary invited them to participate in the Global Investors Meet (GIM) 2015, an investment summit to be held in Bengaluru in November this year.

There is lot of interest among German companies to do business in India and particularly in Karnataka, in the areas of high technology and aerospace sector, according to a release. “There was a feeling among the participants that there should be a direct flight from Bengaluru to Munich,” the release added.

The Government of India has designated Sevala Naik, Consul General, Munich, to represent Karnataka for providing information and facilitation required for the business communities. If required, Karnataka Office in Bavaria would be set up in Munich or Consulate in Munich would open Karnataka Cell in its office to disseminate information and facilitate interaction between investors’ and the Karnataka government, the release added.
