Bundesliga: Bayern Munich defender Daniel van Buyten hopes to stay at the club

Veteran Bayern Munich defender Daniel van Buyten insists he has no plans to retire, and is keen to extend his stay in Bavaria.

The Belgium international is very much a fringe player at the Allianz Arena, having only started six of the 21 Bundesliga matches so far for the European champions.

However, with his current deal expiring at the end of the season, the 36-year-old former Manchester City centre-back has revealed he has no plans to hang up his boots just yet.

“If you are a Bayern Munich player, you basically want to stay on being a player of Bayern Munich,” Van Buyten told kicker-Sportsmagazin.

“It’s not a problem (his future is unclear).

“There is no change for me as I would not sign a deal with another club without talking to Bayern first.

“Bayern know exactly where I am, and how I am.”
