Sofia. Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov held a meeting with Bavarian Minister of the Interior for Building and Transport Joachim Herrmann, who is on a two-day visit to Bulgaria, the press service of the Government announced.
Both officials mainly discussed the tackling of the migration crisis in the EU and threats to security.
Mr Borisov and Mr Herrmann were united around the opinion Europe should make joint efforts to tackle pressure.
They expressed their content with the strengthening of cooperation between Bulgaria and Bavaria in the sphere of security after the signing of a joint declaration on police cooperation.
The document was signed by Rumyana Bachvarova, Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister for Coalition Policy and Public Administration and Minister of Interior and Joachim Herrmann at a ceremony at the Council of Ministers building in the capital Sofia on Thursday.
It aims at activating police cooperation at a professional level in fields such as counteracting terrorism and handling illegal migration.
Prime Minister Borisov stressed the strengthening of police contacts between Bulgaria and Bavaria was of mutual interest and recalled Bavaria was the first federal province Bulgaria had established cooperation with in the field of internal affairs.
