TOLEDO — Bernadette E. (nee Dietrick) “Bernie” Kissner, 100, passed away May 3, 2015, in her home.
She was born in Hamler, Ohio, on January 13, 1915, to Anna and Peter Dietrick.
Bernie was a graduate of Hamler High School, class of 1933. She married Carl Joseph Kissner on June 18, 1941, at Sacred Heart Church in New Bavaria, Ohio. She was a charter member of St. Pius X Church and Heartbeat of Toledo. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, playing cards, traveling, reading and gardening. Bernie was very devoted to her family. After her husband’s passing in 1983, she continued to live and maintain her own home. She continued close relationships with former exchange students from France and Uruguay and visited them in their home countries. Bernie was active at St. Pius X church, where she volunteered and helped with several ministries. She will be remembered as a helping friend and neighbor.
She is survived by her loving children, Robert (Gerry) Kissner, Donna (Joseph) Wasserman and Gregory (Elizabeth) Kissner; grandchildren, Amy (Stephen) Marcou, Douglas (Lori) Kissner, Emily (Richard) Doty, Kristy (Chad) Mandarino, Sara (Jonah) Smith, Joseph (Sarah) Wasserman, Kelly (Greg) Brooks, Gregory Kissner Jr., Melissa (Bo) Freeman and Allison (Steven) Krzyminski; 18 great-grandchildren, and 102-year-old sister, Angela of Defiance, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; and siblings, Donald, Peter Jr., Louis, Catherine and Betty.

Friends are invited to visit on Thursday, May 7, 2015, from 2-8 p.m. in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 W. Sylvania Ave., where the rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Pius X Church, with Rev. David Whalen officiant. Her interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
