Bayern captain Lahm warns Toni Kroos over potential United move

The Germany international defender has admitted he understands why his team-mate is considering his options, but feels the midfielder should stay in Bavaria.

Toni Kroos has become a high-profile reported target for Manchester United over the last couple of weeks, with the talented midfielder believed to be a potential solution to the Premier League champions’ lack of creativity in the centre of the park.

With Kroos’ Bayern Munich contract running down, the 25-year-old is currently weighing up his options, with rumblings of a potential Allianz Arena exit.

Philipp Lahm has spoke out about his team-mate’s future, and believes that leaving the Bavarian giants at the moment could be something that players regret.

“It is normal that one explores their position and negotiate,” Lahm told Sport Bild regarding Kroos.

“If you currently play for Bayern there are few alternatives, if any, though.

“It is, in my eyes, an absolute privilege to play here because the team simply has the mentality to win. Many players want to come to Bavaria.

“So you have to think carefully about whether you leave a club like this at the moment.”

Kroos’ contract with the current European champions expires in the summer of 2015, and as such Pep Guardiola’s men have a decision to make over the playmaker at the end of the season.

With United pledging to spend big in the off-season to rejuvenate the squad, there is every likelihood that the Old Trafford outfit could launch an offensive to sign Kroos.

Should Kroos extend at Bayern or look for a new challenge in England?
