A Bavarian princess has appeared in a Scottish court accused of assault, racist breach of the peace and “accusing police of being paedophiles”.

Theodora Sayn-Wittgenstein arrived in handcuffs at Cupar Sheriff Court to face eight charges, alleged to have been committed at a student event near St Andrews at the weekend.

Sayn-Wittgenstein, of Bad Lapsag, Bavaria, is alleged to have carried out the offences at Kinkell Farm on Saturday night.

She pleaded not guilty to charges of shouting, swearing and threatening violence and two charges of assaulting Damon Creevy by attempting to kick him on the body and kicking him on the body.

She further denied acting in a racially aggravated manner towards Farah Hussain by making remarks about killing Muslims and assaulting Cara Anderson by kicking her on the body, struggling with her and attempting to butt her on the head to her injury.

Sayn-Wittgenstein faces another charge of uttering threats and making offensive and homophobic comments towards security staff and struggling violently with police officers and attempting to stop herself being placed in custody by pushing with her legs, shouting, swearing and threatening violence towards police officers in a police van.

The final charge alleges that she shouted and swore at officers at Glenrothes Police Station on March 9 and accusing them of being paedophiles.

The 27-year-old denied all eight charges against her on summary complaint at Cupar Sheriff Court.

Defence solicitor Douglas Williams said that his client planned to return to Germany while she awaits trial to work with her father in his renewables business.

She was released on bail after providing an address in south west London.

Trial was fixed for July 7 at Dundee Sheriff Court, with a pre-trial hearing on June 26.

Sayn-Wittgenstein’s full title is Her Serene Highness Theodora-Louise, Prinzessin zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg.

She was released on bail with the conditions of appearing at every calling of the case, does not commit any offences while on bail, and does not interfere with witnesses in the case.

She was also ordered not to behave in a manner likely to cause alarm or distress to witnesses.
