Sofia. Bavarian Minister of the Interior for Building and Transport Joachim Herrmann is paying a two-day visit to Bulgaria at the invitation of Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister for Coalition Policy and Public Administration and Minister of Interior Rumiana Bachvarova.
In the frames of his visit to Sofia the Bavarian official also met with Ms Bachvarova, President Rosen Plevneliev and Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.
On Friday Rumiana Bachvarova and Joachim Herrmann will take part in a conference dedicated to the fight against international terrorism in the Danube region. The forum is organised by the Bulgarian Interior Ministry.
Minister of Interior Rumyana Bachvarova and State Minister of the Interior, Public Works and Transport of the German State of Bavaria Free State Joachim Herrmann signed a Declaration of Police Cooperation.
“Bavaria has always strived to good cooperation with Bulgaria.” That is what the State Minister of the Interior, Public Works and Transport of Bavaria, said after signed the Declaration for Police Cooperation.
Minister Joachim Herrmann said that Bavaria is one of the most secure Federal States in Germany.
“We have the lowest rate of crime and the highest quota of revealing of crime,” Minister Herrmann said.
Therefore he believes that cooperation between Hungary, Slovenia, Romania and Bulgaria is in favour and in interest of common people, “in order to combat terrorism, human trafficking, forced prostitution, fight against corruption and drug trafficking n the heart of Europe,” Herrmann noted.
According to him, Bulgaria and Bavaria are leading parts within the frames of tomorrow’s meeting of the Danube countries.


Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Lilyana Pavlova met with State Minister of the Interior, Public Works and Transport of the German State of Bavaria Free State Joachim Herrmann.
Minister Pavlova informed the Bavarian Foreign Minister about the priorities of the Bulgarian government in the field of transport infrastructure in the country – the completion of the motorway ring of the country and the forthcoming introduction of the toll system.
“The new system will meet the requirements of the EU for integration of toll systems in different countries on the territory of the EU,” Minister Pavlova said.
Within the meeting the two ministers discussed the country’s efforts to reduce energy consumption by implementing energy efficiency measures in public and housing sector in Bulgaria.
They discussed coordination of the Danube Strategy, particularly in the security field.
