Bavarian companies expressed their interest to invest in Serbia

Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic spoke yesterday in Munich with Bavarian Prime Minister Horst Seehofer about economic cooperation, support to Serbia on its European path and the current problem of false asylum seekers, as well as of asylum seekers coming from third countries.

Vucic expressed his gratitude for the support that the government of Bavaria sent to Serbia after the floods in May last year and informed Seehofer about economic cooperation and a great interest of Bavarian companies in investing in Serbia.

The trade exchange with Bavaria stands at €764 million and a great number of Bavarian companies is satisfied with business conditions in Serbia, Vucic underlined.

He asked help from the Bavarian government in solving the problem of false asylum seekers and stressed that Serbia needs technical and political support for the solution of this problem.

We do now want to be a country that is causing problems to Germany. We want to find a common solution to the problems that beset us, the Serbian Prime Minister underlined.

Seehofer congratulated Vucic on the implemented economic reforms and stressed that Serbia is on the right track, and that it should stay that way.

He pointed out that Serbia and Bavaria must solve together the issue of asylum seekers and added that the greatest part of the problem is in Bavaria itself.

The Bavarian Prime Minister also underlined that the EU must provide a greater logistical and financial support to Serbia in solving the problem of asylum seekers from Syria, Afghanistan and other countries.

During the meeting, Seehofer said that economic cooperation will become stronger and that Bavaria will send a business delegation to Serbia.

He accepted the invitation of Prime Minister Vucic to visit Serbia soon.

Vucic also met with Minister for European Affairs and International Relations Beate Merk, with whom he spoke about European integration during a working lunch.
