Bavaria gets 10% of power from PV

state

and

its

second-most

populous

with

12

million
inhabitants

is

also

relatively

sunny

by

German

standards.

Thousands

of

roof-top

PV
panels

are

installed

on

its

farms,

while

ground-mounted

solar

arrays

are

seen
across

the

state.

Bavaria

had

9.6GW

in
installed

solar

capacity

by

the

end

of

last

year,

according

to

Germany’s

solar

industry
federation,

BSW

Solar.

All

renewables
combined

accounted

for

34%

of

the

state’s

output

in

2012,

with

a

high
share

for

hydro-power

but

still

very

little

wind.

By

2021

the

year
Germany

is

scheduled

to

switch

off

its

last

nuclear

plant
